Description

For Chemical Removal of Scales in Galvanized Apparatus and Installations up to max. 40°C.

Special inhibitors contained in the product ensure the protection of metallic materials against acid attacks.

    Benefits

The following kinds of metal are protected:

      • steels,
      • chromium and CrNi steels,
      • cast iron,
      • particularly zinc,
      • alloys on copper basis (even in contact with iron).

In case of formic acid we supply LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 702 for zinc.

          Dosing, Addition

Dependent on the quantity of scale to be removed the dilution ratio varies from 1 : 5 to 1 : 10. To dissolve 1 kg boiler scale on average 1.7 kg LITHSOLVENT Cleaner 707 is required.

For scales mainly consisting of carbonate the cleaning process is completed when the gas formation (carbonic acid) has stopped. Due to the gas formation the installations and rooms have always to be well aerated.
The duration of an acidification should not exceed 6 hours. In case there are still residual scales after the treatment, the acidification has to be repeated, if necessary.
After acidification the object has to be carefully rinsed whereby loose sludge is removed, too.
Finally, it is recommended to neutralize with a 1 % sodium carbonate solution at ambient temperature or slight heating. Duration: 1 - 2 hours.
Caustic soda solution should not be used as in this case the zinc will be attacked.

                      Notes. References

The composition of scales may differ according to the circumstances. Calcium carbonate (so called boiler scale or incrustation) and also light rust easily dissolve. Gypsum (calcium sulfate), silicates, thick rust layers and calcium phosphate are difficult to dissolve.

The products shown on our website are only a selection of our entire product range. There is no universal remedy for the rapid removal of impurities. Some can be removed well with alkaline agents, others better in the acidic range. The large variety of conceivable cleaning problems and the large number of additives, inhibitors and ready-to-use cleaning solutions offered by us make it advisable to obtain detailed advice before starting cleaning.
The same applies to inhibitors, defoamers, scale preventers, corrosion inhibitors, pickling inhibitors, etc. Depending on the plant, material, product and the type of boiler/cooling water is used, different individual challenges arise. We are well equipped for them.
